Young Futures Prevention Panels

Young Futures Prevention Panels (YFPPs) are multi-agency panels designed to identify, assess and refer into effective support young people who may be vulnerable to being drawn into crime. The panels have been implemented by the VRU and involved agencies include, the Police, Local Authorities, Youth Justice Service’s, Health, Education, Fire and Rescue and VCSE’s.

The process for the panels involve the Police providing a Youth Justice Service with a list of individuals of concern, who then discuss the list to provide a shortlist for a panel, which will be attended by the organisations above. At the panel they discuss each individual’s situation and how they can support that individual and divert them away from crime.

The VRU have implemented four of these panels in Basingstoke, Portsmouth, Southampton and the Isle of Wight. Implementing four of these panels is exceptional practice, with majority of areas implementing one for the whole Police Force Area.
