PCC earmarks location for Eastleigh police station

Police and Crime Commissioner, Donna Jones, has revealed the preferred location of Eastleigh’s new police station.

Working alongside Eastleigh Borough Council, it’s proposed parts of the authority’s Eastleigh House in Upper Market Street will be used, with the ground floor transformed into a modern and welcoming front counter.

The town’s previous police station closed in 2019 after it was deemed outdated and no longer fit for purpose.

The PCC’s team has worked tirelessly to find the right location to ensure police staff, Neighbourhood Policing Teams and CID have the most appropriate facilities to enable them to do their jobs to the best of their ability.

Eastleigh House offers sufficient parking for police vehicles and is right in the heart of the town centre.

It’s part of the second phase of the PCC’s plan to bring police closer to communities, improve visibility and deliver excellent local policing.

PCC Donna Jones said: “I’m delighted we’ve finally found a suitable location.

“Locating a front counter here will make people feel safer and reassure them that police officers are on hand to support victims, catch criminals and get them off our streets.

“I want to make sure the people of Eastleigh feel connected to their police force once more.

“I’ve made sure that taxpayers are getting the best value for money and this decision backs that up.”

It’s due to open later this year and follows the opening of the front desk in Bishop’s Waltham and the major renovation of Gosport Police Station.

Both organisations are working together to get the paperwork completed in the next couple of weeks.
