Construction begins on new Eastleigh Police Station

29 October 2026

Construction work has now started on a new police station in Eastleigh town centre.

The new station forms part of Police and Crime Commissioner Donna Jones’ wider programme to improve public access to policing in the town after the old police station closed in 2019.

Working alongside Eastleigh Borough Council, the new station will be part of Eastleigh House in Upper Market Street.

Neighbourhood Policing Teams and local CID teams will be based at the new station to increase a visible police presence in the town.

Once the construction work is completed, the station will have its own public front counter which will be open Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm, providing residents with direct access to policing teams.

PCC Donna Jones said: “I promised residents I would bring a police station back to Eastleigh and I’m delighted that construction work is now underway.

“This will be a modern police facility right in the heart of the town centre, with a public front counter where residents can speak to the police face-to-face.

“People want to see and access their police force locally. Neighbourhood police officers and detectives will be based there to tackle crime and strengthen relationships with the local community.

“This investment demonstrates my commitment to delivering visible, accessible policing and ensuring taxpayers receive value for money.”

Eastleigh Borough Council Leader, Councillor Keith House, said: “It’s great news that work to bring the police station back to Eastleigh town centre is underway.

“We’re sure that residents and businesses will welcome the return of the public front counter for reporting crimes and seeking advice, returning a physical police presence to the town centre after the 2019 closure of the Leigh Road station.

“The move is further illustration of our commitment to work in partnership to address crime and antisocial behaviour in the area, and we look forward to welcoming Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary to the building in the New Year.”

Work will continue over the coming months ahead of the station opening to the public in early 2027.
