Police and Crime Commissioner is welcoming applications for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary Chief Constable
23 April 2025

Police and Crime Commissioner Donna Jones has announced the start of the recruitment process for a new Chief Constable to lead Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary.
As one of the largest police forces in the country outside of the Met, the Constabulary plays a vital role in protecting over 2.1 million residents across a diverse region that includes major cities, vast rural areas, critical infrastructure, and extensive coastlines. The new Chief Constable will be responsible for maintaining high standards of policing ensuring communities are safe and that the force remains focused on its core purpose: fighting crime and keeping people safe.
PCC Donna Jones said: “I am seeking a Chief Constable who sees challenge as opportunity. This is not a job for someone looking to maintain the status quo. I want a leader who can drive improvement, build trust, and ensure the force continues to modernise and deliver the visible, effective policing that the public expects.
“The successful candidate must bring proven operational leadership, strong financial understanding, and share my clear, unwavering commitment to pubic duty.
“Since 2021, I’ve funded over 800 additional officers, invested in digital tools to support frontline policing, and prioritised putting victims at the centre of criminal justice. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is a modern force that’s rooted in tradition. Crime rates have fallen over the last few years and every community now has a Local Bobby. Now I need a Chief Constable who can build on this foundation, work closely with me to deliver my Police and Crime Plan, and lead the force with professionalism, clarity and purpose.”
The recruitment process is now live, with full details for eligible applicants available via the Constabulary’s careers page.
