Former Chief Constable will face disciplinary hearing

12 January 2026

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has advised the OPCC that former Chief Constable of Hampshire & Isle of Wight, Scott Chilton, has a case to answer for potential breaches of police standards of professional behaviour.

The IOPC has published this statement on its findings after the PCC submitted two mandatory referrals to the IOPC last year.

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) has agreed that the findings of the IOPC investigation means former Chief Constable Scott Chilton should face a disciplinary hearing.

A date for the hearing will be arranged by the OPCC in due course.
