Live Q&A with PCC and Chief Constable shines spotlight on road safety, anti-social behaviour and police visibility
24 April 2026
Police and Crime Commissioner Donna Jones has reiterated her commitment to tackling the issues that matter most to you.
On Wednesday evening (22nd April), she appeared alongside Chief Constable Alexis Boon in her latest live Q&A session, COPS.
The COPS event (Commissioner’s Oversight of Policing Services) was streamed across three Facebook pages: the PCC’s, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary’s.
Just under 200 questions were pre-submitted for the hour-long session.
A number of topics were covered by the PCC and Chief Constable including anti-social behaviour, e-scooters, speeding, police visibility and road safety among others.
PCC Donna Jones said: “My job is to work for the public and COPS gives me an opportunity, on their behalf, to hold the Chief Constable to account.
“The public really feel strongly about policing and it’s important taxpayers have a say in the service they pay for.
“My pledge when I was elected in 2021 was to introduce more police officers, open more police stations, drive down crime and make our communities safer.
“We have an outstanding Chief Constable and the work he and his team are doing is fantastic and I’m extremely grateful for that but there’s always work to be done.
“There are still too many speeding and noisy vehicles on our roads – I’m dealing with that through major investment in road safety projects. There are still far too many e-scooters out there – I’m dealing with that. I am listening and taking action.
“I want to thank everyone who watched COPS or who submitted a question. Your participation and feedback are invaluable.”
The COPS recording is available to watch on the PCC’s website at COPS meetings – Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner.
