Nominations open as PCC prepares to honour local heroes

14 November 2025

Donna Jones is set to host her fifth annual Police and Crime Commissioner Awards.

The event shines a light on volunteers and staff from across the public, private and voluntary sectors who make a huge difference supporting the police.

The ceremony next March recognises and honours their invaluable contribution to making and keeping our communities safe.

Members of the public are now being encouraged to nominate their Community Volunteer of the Year.

The award recognises those who work tirelessly to make their community safer – whether in a formal volunteer role within an organisation or on their own to help others. Nominations can be made online here.

Organisations, volunteers, officers and staff who directly support Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary and the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Office will also receive recognition.

Other awards handed out during the evening include the Rural Crime Fighter Award, Local Bobby of the Year Award, the Business Crime Prevention Award, the Youth Engagement Award, Police Animal of the Year Award and, new for 2026, the Bravery Award.

These are nominated from within policing, commissioned services, and partner organisations.

PCC Donna Jones said: “My awards ceremony is a fantastic opportunity to highlight and say thank you to all the volunteers, partners, community groups, and dedicated staff who make a vital contribution to policing.

“The value they add to the wider criminal justice system is enormous.

“This year’s addition of the Bravery Award is also a great opportunity to recognise those who’ve demonstrated exceptional valour and commitment to public safety.

“If you know a local hero who makes a real difference in your community, please nominate them for my Community Volunteer of the Year Award. Their unwavering commitment to supporting people and creating a safer environment for all deserves to be recognised and applauded.”

The deadline for members of the public to nominate their Community Volunteer of the Year is 9 January 2026.
