09 September 2026

Police and Crime Commissioner Donna Jones has paid tribute to the dedication and resilience of emergency service personnel to mark Emergency Services Day (Sept 9) at a flag raising ceremony in Eastleigh.

Speaking at the event, Commissioner Jones recognised the challenges faced by those working across policing, fire and rescue, ambulance services, HM Coastguard and other blue light organisations, thanking them for their unwavering commitment to keeping communities safe.

Donna Jones, Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, said: “I am proud to raise the Emergency Services Flag and pay tribute to the remarkable people who serve our communities.

“Emergency service workers face increasing demands, evolving challenges and public scrutiny, yet day after day they answer the call, putting service before self. Their dedication, resilience and unwavering commitment to keeping people safe deserve our deepest gratitude and respect.”

The Emergency Services Flag is flown as a symbol of appreciation for the service, sacrifice and professionalism shown by emergency workers who protect and support the public every day.
