On Tuesday 27 June in the Westquay shopping centre in Southampton, Police and Crime Commissioner Michael Lane is holding his ‘Safer Together’ event, to demonstrate the achievements of working in partnership after a year of being in post. The event is open to the public and free to attend.
To be held in the exhibition space in the retail and leisure destination, the event will demonstrate how Michael’s four priorities to keep you, your family, and your community safer are being supported and delivered by partners around the Hampshire Constabulary policing area.
Michael Lane said:
“Reducing crime and promoting public safety cannot be delivered by the Police alone. By working in partnership to create inclusive and resilient communities we can all ensure that Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton are amongst the safest places to live, work and visit. We are Safer Together.”
At 12:30pm, the Commissioner will present a new football strip to Unity 101 FC, a local youth football team which he has sponsored. Unity 101 FM will also be broadcasting live from the event in the centre of Southampton.
Ram Kalyan ‘Kelly’, station manager at Unity 101 FM said:
“Bringing people together to share our beautiful game makes our community stronger with a common goal to be the best whatever our faith. Our thanks to Michael for his donation towards our kit.”
During his first year as Police and Crime Commissioner, Michael has invested over £1.7 million in 70 local projects that are working to help keep our communities safer. A number of these projects will be present at the event with the hope to inspire further local initiatives and encourage partnership working across all sectors of society.
All the partners will come together at 2pm for a group photo with the Commissioner.
