Police and Crime Commissioner Michael Lane, recently opened the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Serious and Organised Crime Conference in Winchester, commenting that the Constabulary area is taking a “leading and innovative approach.”
Nearly thirty partners attended the conference including Trading Standards, Community Safety Partnerships, the Home Office, the Border Agency, and HMRC, as well as Hampshire Constabulary.
The Commissioner said: “This is an innovative approach to engaging with partners, and I am hoping this will be productive and will add value to our fight against those who are organised criminals who wish us harm.”
The conference undertook case study workshops to help partners explore their possible roles in tackling organised crime together. They will produce an action plan to enable all the partners to better address organised crime and support its victims.
Also speaking at the event were representatives from Hampshire Constabulary, Trading Standards, and GAIN, the Government Agency Intelligence Network.
