Safer Together 2019

18 May 2019

The Safer Together event 2019 showcases the partnership projects funded by the Police and Crime Commissioner that:

  • Support the vulnerable
  • Help victims of crime on their recovery journey
  • Work with those at risk of offending, helping them avoid triggers that might otherwise lead them into anti-social behaviour or crime
  • Enable the constabulary to focus on policing – identifying threats and risks, protecting the community and pursuing those who wish us harm.

Crime Prevention tools will be available

At the event residents can find out about services available, and take part in a variety of activities for all ages. Crime prevention items will be available – just speak to one of the team:

  • secure purse chains
  • RFID credit card covers
  • immobilise marking product leaflets
  • Hollie Guard personal safety app demonstration and leaflets
  • child safety wristbands
  • See Hampshire Constabulary’s latest electric vehicle ?
  • Music from Changing Tunes and Motiv8
  • Safer Superhero trail activity for children, through Cascades at participating shops

£500 is up for grabs…

Schools, community groups and voluntary organisations were invited to submit a short application to the Police and Crime Commissioner to be in with a chance to win the funding. The applications will now be shortlisted with the top entries being put to the public vote at the Safer Together Event in Cascades Shopping Centre, Commercial Road, Portsmouth on Saturday 18 May 2019. The winning projects will be awarded £500 following the public votes.

The three shortlisted projects are:
  1. Victory Hants CIC – ‘Live Dry’ night events
  2. Cottage Grove Primary School – Pastoral Support Outdoor Nature Space
  3. Portsmouth Mediation – training for Food Bank volunteers

Applications are in, and we need you to vote at the event for your favourite project to win the funding.  Come along, meet the projects and organisations, and cast your vote!  The vote opens at 9am and closes at 3.30pm.
